How to play 2048
Press an arrow key to slide all tiles on the board in that direction. Tiles with the same number merge into one tile worth twice as much. After every move, a new tile (2 or 4) appears in a random empty spot. The game ends when the board is full and no adjacent tiles can merge.
On mobile, swipe in any direction to move the tiles. The score increases every time two tiles merge — the value of the new tile is added to your score.
Strategy tips
- →Pick a corner and keep your biggest tile there — never slide that tile away from it.
- →Work in two directions — mostly slide left/right and only slide up/down when stuck.
- →Build a snake pattern along the bottom row: highest tile in a corner with decreasing values snaking inward.
- →Don't rush merges — set up chains of same-value tiles before merging to score big in one move.
